There are two ways to create a new task in Relay: the new task icon, or the task wizard.
New task
Click on the New task icon at the top of the project.
Provide a name for the task and select a task type. If you are not sure what task type to use, select the default Task. You can change the task type later.
Set the open new task option to go straight into the Task details for the new task, or deselect it to return to the Plan view after creating the task.
Use Submit to create the task.
Task wizard
The task wizard is an alternative, more powerful, method for creating tasks. With it you can:
- Create multiple tasks of the same type.
- Use Templates, which are pre-defined tasks or sets of tasks.
- Import tasks from files. See Export and import.
Select the Task wizard option from the folder context menu, or use the Task wizard button from the new task form.
To create one or more tasks using task types, select the required task type from the Task type/template drop-down. Use Next to proceed.
Enter one or more names for the tasks, and use Submit to create the tasks.
You will be taken back to Plan view. If you are creating more than one task, the tasks will be shown with a status of Generating for a short time. Refresh the plan view to check on progress.
If you select a pre-defined template from the drop-down list, rather than a simple task type, you will only be enter one name. The name is optional, and the name of the template will be used as a default.
To import a file of tasks, click on Advanced options on the wizard, and upload the file.
Use Next and you will be optionally be able to enter a single name for the imported tasks, the same as templates.
The task wizard has other options which are not used in Relay but which might be used in custom solutions. This includes an option to select one or more connections for the new tasks.
