Notification rules folder

The notification rules folder provides an easy-to-use interface to the notification rules and related configuration. It is suitable when rules change frequently and need to be maintained by staff who are not familiar with the internals of the notification manager. If rules are fixed and can be set only once, the notification rule folder may not be necessary.

You can create a notification rule folder by selecting the Create notification rules folder option from the Notification Manager connection group. This will create the new folder as a child of the Notification Manager connection group. It generally makes sense to move it to the Settings folder.

The rules folder is similar to the standard project folder used in many modules, but instead of defining required work, each task defines a rule, with sub tasks that define options for the rule such as matching conditions, outcomes and continuation. The options for a rule are merged together, and then the containing rule merged over them to create the final rule.

Rule templates

Rule Use this to define rules using option tasks.
Advanced This can be used to set a rule manually. Any options or sub rules will be merged first, then the manual values from the rule merged over them.

Option templates

Recipient
Apply notification rule to all users, or to a specific user or group.
Folder Apply notification rules to only messages from one folder.
Message filter Apply notification rule by process template or by event type.
Outcome Set what should happen to the notification.
Advanced The advanced rule can also be used as an option. Values from advanced will be merged with other options. This can be useful if you want to use exclude pattern matching, or to add a recipient, change the delay on a batched email, or other advanced features.

For recipient, folder and message filter, you can use the template more than once in the rule and the notification will be considered matched if any of the options match.
